Depends on your wife's likes/dislikes. Do you think she might keep the clock somewhere to get dusty and forget about it by this time next year or do you know the perfect place for it. Paper might be more versatile. Again, do whatever you think she'll have a preference for.

throw tradition out the window and get her something good. not a clock either. but go with paper if you must and give her a harvey nicks voucher. or one for a day spa.

Money is tight for myself and my husband as well, so we celebrated our anniversary with a romantic meal at home, $6.99 grocery store flowers, and a romantic evening in the bedroom. I couldn't have asked for anything better!

I think tradition is paper for the 1st year. But I think you should get her what you'd think she would like.

You don't have to go the traditional route if you don't want to. If you know she would like the clock, then by all means buy it for her. Otherwise, some really pretty stationary would be nice, and fairly inexpensive.

Not the clock. Give her something in the category of attire, accessories, shoes or jewelry.
